My Top Locations

Scouting locations is one of my favorite parts of the job. I have my tried and true, the beautiful parks of Raleigh, like Historic Oak View County Park. It’s a 27-acre hidden gem just off I-440 and Poole Road. I love the sprawling fields of pecan trees paired with the crisp white farm fencing. If you haven’t been there, this fall is an amazing time to go!

Raleigh’s union station

When I feel a bit edgier, I head over to Raleigh’s Union Station, a gorgeous space that began offering train service in 2018. The city did an amazing job of building a multi-purpose space that reflects the architecture and the design of the city around it with exposed brick, iron beams and breathtakingly tall windows that let in dreamy natural light. I’ve used this space for senior sessions, branding shoots and even an occasional holiday card shoot.

Common desk in East End Market

When I need a warm, hipster vibe I head to Common Desk in Raleigh’s new East End Market neighborhood. This shared work space has been such fun to visit for any corporate headshot or branding work and I’ve even used their rooms for pop-up studio work when needed.

North carolina museum of art

And no portrait photographer in Raleigh can have a complete portfolio without a session at the esteemed North Carolina Museum of Art. The true beauty of NCMOA for me though is finding the hidden gems of spaces that aren’t immediately identifiable. A peaceful section of the fields, a hidden path or a tucked away rock. So many different looks in such an exceptional resource to our state.

That’s a wrap for some of my favorite locations to shoot. Would love to hear yours, especially the ones off the beaten path! DM me on Instagram to let me know!
